10:15 am - Teaching with Adam

10:45am - Communion  (Meditation by Clint Holloway)
We cannot help but be concerned in uncertain times. We worry about what the plunge in the markets means for our future. We worry about rent or the mortgage if we cannot work. We worry if we have enough of the necessities (including toilet paper!) to last until this is through. We worry what will happen if someone we love gets sick….or if we get sick. But worrying is renting trouble before we have to buy it. Jesus pricks our hearts when he says, “Who of you by worrying can add a single hour to your life?” And “Do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself.”   In the Sermon on the Mount, Jesus provides the antibiotic to the virus of worry. Between telling us to store our treasures in heaven, not on Earth (trust) and to Ask, Seek and Knock (provision) Jesus tells us “Do Not Worry.” What will we eat or drink? What will we wear? What about our body? ....we worry. But Jesus says, “Your heavenly Father knows you need these things.” So, in the place of worry, turn first to the things of God and focus, not on the things that are scaring you, focus on being in right relationship with Him and how you share that with those around you. THEN all of the things that you fretted for “will be added unto you.” My guess is that also means that many of the fears that caused us worry will turn out to be for nothing. But if it IS something, a true cause for worry, we still have the promises of God’s knowing and providing.  It is a wonderful promise from God; it just takes continually being reminded, staying in relationship with Him and in community with the body of Christ. Each week we are reminded of these promises, reminded of his provision, reminded of his kingdom, reminded of his righteousness when we join with others in the Body of Christ in the celebration of the Lord’s Supper. AND as we practice “social distancing” and have “Church in place” it is a opportunity to be reminded that when we partake of the body of Christ we are in communion with Christ and each other at Aspen Grove, with Christians all over the world and with Christians in ages past and time to come. Of the Kingdom of God there is no end.

The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had give thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” The same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant (promise) in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes. 1 Corinthians 11:23-26

Prepare & take the elements - Grape Juice & Unleavened bread

Dear Father, in this time of worry, help us to remember and to take seriously your promises, sealed by the body and blood of Jesus Christ….. Amen

10:50am - Special Prayer Time
Let’s Pray Together for:

  • The people negatively impacted by COVID-19 / Corona Virus – those infected, shut-ins, those who have lost employment, etc.
  • Healthcare workers who are on the frontlines treating those who are sick – pray that the Lord will protect and strengthen them.
  • Those on the frontlines providing other critical services, police, firemen, assisted living workers, delivery services, etc. - pray that the Lord will protect and strengthen them.
  • The vulnerable who are especially at risk – pray that this disease will pass over them and that they will seek help instead of putting themselves at risk.
  • God’s wisdom for our church and political leaders at all levels.
  • Students and families – pray for patience and discipline and that families will draw closer to each other and closer to God.
  • Our Kingdom outreach – pray that the body of Christ will be a source of love, encouragement, and help to those around them and for boldness in sharing the Good News with those who need to hear it.
  • Those in Middle TN affected by the recent tornadoes – pray for peace and comfort and that their needs will be met.
  • Our church family members who are facing health issues.
  • People’s hearts to soften. – Pray that they will turn to the only one who can help them with their fear, Jesus Christ Our Lord and Savior. That they will know the truth that will set them free.
  • Each of us to grow in Him.
