Going into preschool can be hard. A new room, new people, and all on your own. We will do our best to help make the room inviting and easier to transition into. Here are some tips to help make transitioning easier.

Before Drop-Off Day:

  • Walk by the Preschool room each week and tell your child, “Soon, you will go into this room.” Show them the toys in the room and let them play with inside.
  • Come up with a “Drop off” Routine. This could be as simple as a hug or a kiss.
  • Let them bring a toy to church they are comfortable with. This is their “Travel Buddy.”

Drop-Off Day:

  • If they have been told they are going to be going into the Preschool room, it will make it easier for them to enter the room.
  • If they have a “Drop Off” Routine, this is just another drop off for them.
  • If they decide to bring their “Travel Buddy,” they have something of comfort to be with them.
  • Stop-Drop-Run: It may sound insincere and mean, but the best way for your child to adapt to the room is by dropping them off and making sure they don’t see you leave. If they see Mom or Dad, they will want to be with Mom/Dad. The best way to have them adapt to the room is to let them learn to adapt on their own.
